BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The SN Aboitiz Power Inc. (SNAP) entered into an agreement with the provincial government here for a reforestation project to boost the resources and potentials of the province as the watershed haven of Cagayan Valley.

Ness Adsuara, SNAP Plant Support Services senior manager, said the company has set aside an investment of P700,000 to jumpstart the project, adding that their commitment to sustainability goes beyond their business operations.

“We are proud to partner with the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya in this reforestation effort that aligns with our vision of powering positive change and dedication in giving back to the community and fostering a greener future,” said Adsuara.

She added that the reforestation project aims to rehabilitate the local ecosystem, prevent soil erosion and enhance carbon sequestration which are vital factors in mitigating the effects of climate change.

“We will encourage residents to get involved in these reforestation efforts which will also provide job opportunities for them while promoting environmental stewardship within the community,” Adsuara said.

For the provincial government, Gov. Jose ‘’Jing’’ Gambito said their partnership with SNAP in this project involves the initial reforestation of five hectares of plantation site in Barangay Santa Maria in the southern Nueva Vizcaya town of Dupax del Sur.

He said this reforestation project is not only about planting trees but also “planting hope for future generations.”

“We are grateful for SNAP’s support and we are convinced that this undertaking will contribute to the protection and conservation of our province’s natural beauty and biodiversity,” Gambito said.

SNAP officials signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the provincial governor, with the company ensuring its commitment to providing the necessary requirements for the reforestation project like its corporate social responsibility fund.
