Mojdeh strikes 3 medals in Beijing

BRENT Internatio­nal School Manila standout Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh had a grand farewell in the 2024 Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Swimming Championsh­ips, winning one gold, one silver and one bronze on her final playing year in the annual swimfest in Beijing, China.

Mojdeh, a semifinali­st in the prestigiou­s World Junior Championsh­ips, proved too much for her foreign counterpar­ts in the girls’ 100-m butterfly following her impressive showing of one minute and 3.33 seconds in the three-day meet held at the Internatio­nal School of Beijing swimming pool.

She outclassed Gabrielle Sung of host China who registered 1:05.41 to settle for silver, and Adison Chow of Hong Kong who checked in at 1:06.02 to earn the bronze.

“We are proud of her amazing achievemen­ts. I am so grateful to the entire Brent Aqualions Swim Team for these kind efforts of cheering for Jas on her last swim in APAC,” said Joan Mojdeh, the proud mother of Micaela Jasmine and the team manager of Behrouz Elite Swimming Team-Philippine­s.

Mojdeh also secured a silver in the 50-m butterfly event (28.76) and a bronze in the 100-m Individual Medley category (1:07.16) to close out her campaign in APAC on a high note.

“Thank you Jasmine for all the effort you have been bringing consistent­ly since you were six years old until now. The highs, the lows, the in betweens,” Joan said.

“Just remember that no matter what, we are always proud of you. As you end another chapter of your life and welcome a new one, know that we are always here to support and cheer you on,” she added.

Internatio­nal School Manila bet Zayden Ramos also sizzled by winning two gold and three bronze medals in the boys division.

Ramos topped the 100-m butterfly in 57.58 seconds and 50-m butterfly in 25.53 seconds then wound up third in 50-m freestyle (24.45) and 100-m freestyle (53.23).

Fellow ISM tanker Kenzo Bate chipped in one bronze in the boys’ 400-m freestyle event (4:23.91).

Ramos and Bate then worked hand in hand with teammates Zach Lee and Andres Albano in winning the bronze medal in the boys’ 200-m freestyle relay (1:42.25).

Another Brent Internatio­nal School Manila standout Tanji Waskiewicz posted personal best times in girls’ 50-m freestyle (32.87) and 50-m

breast- stroke (40.87).
