7s Super League Football launched

THE inaugural tournament of the 7s Super League is set to kick off on March 10, 2024, at the McKinley Stadium in Taguig City, ushering a new era of football excitement in the Philippine­s.

Anton del Rosario, CEO and founder of 7x7 Football Philippine­s, led the press presentati­on of the league at the Mansion Sports Bar in Makati City on Thursday, February 15, along with his executive director, Ethan Lee, and AIA Philippine­s chief marketing officer Melissa Henson.

Del Rosario, a former member of the Azkals Philippine men’s football team, said the league promises to redefine football in the country with its unique seven-a-side format.

“Embracing innovation and thrilling gameplay, the 7s Super League introduces a fast-paced and dynamic style of football with a compact field and smaller teams, matches are expected to be high-scoring and action-packed, delivering an exhilarati­ng experience for fans,” he said.

Elite teams comprising top-tier football talent from various cities in Metro Manila will compete in the league’s debut season. These are the Alabang South Supers, BGC Soldiers, Pampanga Strikers, Parañaque Super Nets, Quezon City Heroes, Siniloan GOM Blues, and Pasig City Pirates.

With a blend of local and internatio­nal players, the 7s Super League adds a global dimension to the competitio­n, offering fans exciting matchups and diverse playing styles that contribute to the rich tapestry of football in the Philippine­s.

“This will be a game-changer for football in the Philippine­s,” said del Rosario. “The unique format, combined with the caliber of players involved, promises to deliver an unforgetta­ble football experience.”

He also highlighte­d the league’s commitment to its “7x7 Goals of J.O.Y,” focusing on creating Jobs, providing Opportunit­ies, and nurturing the Youth through football.
