A Beautéful Chinese New Year celebration

- TESSA MAURICIO -ARRIOLA

BEAUTÉDERM founder and president Rhea Anicoche-Tan pulled out all the stops a week ago today as she welcomed family, friends and her beloved celebrity ambassadors to a lavish Chinese New Year celebration at her company headquarters in Angeles, Pampanga.

Gorgeously dressed as always, this time in a silken scarlet red off-the-shoulder top and tailored black pants, the well-loved spitfire of a lady looked every bit a star herself as she posed for photos with Beautéderm A-listers led by her good friend, seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez and men of the moment Sam Milby and Carlo Aquino.

The Chinese New Year gettogether auspiciously doubled as a first-anniversary celebration of Rei’s sprawling seven-storey building, which — besides her ever-successful range of beauty and personal care products — is tangible proof that dreams can come true with hard work and determination.

Indeed, the beauty industry’s story of Beautederm came to be is practically legendary by now. For who could ever forget how this former radio DJ and star marketing executive of a global direct-selling brand from Vigan quit her job to build a beauty empire with just P3,000?

Blessed not only with a genius mind for business but also with a kind and generous heart, Rei took the opportunity last Saturday to impart her wisdom on achieving success in business no matter the odds.

Surrounded by the opulent ambiance of her headquarters, she emphasized the importance of passion and resilience.

“Do the things you love with strength. And when success comes, make an impact. That’s our mission — to boost consumer confidence and give back to the community,” she began.

Elaborating, Rei shared her mantra for aspiring entrepreneurs, urging them to remain steadfast in the face of challenges.

“Be consistent. It isn’t easy to go into business, but you have to show up and be consistent. Always listen to your gut and people who genuinely love and support you.

And don’t be impatient. It takes time,” she advised, drawing from her experiences building her empire.

Reiterating the importance of community spirit amid one’s goals, Rei emphasized that success can never be about personal achievements alone.

“It’s also about uplifting those around you,” she genuinely said as she stood at the topmost floor of a building that provides jobs to hundreds of Pampanguenos amid a bustling city around her. Add to that the countless sellers of Beautederm not just across the country but through different parts of the world who now lead quality lives.

“When you see that the community you’re supporting thrives, I count that as personal success,” she reflected, highlighting her commitment to creating positive change through her ventures.

And as Rei guided her guests through a tour of her multi-faceted establishment — from her premium coffee house, Beauté Beanery, to her beauty clinic, BeautéHaus, and well-appointed boutique of luxury brands, A-List Avenue — the lady behind the label that is proudly nominated at the 5th VP Choice Awards for Beauty Cosmetic Brand of the Year gratefully expressed, “It’s nice to look back kung paano ko ito nabuo [on how I was able to put up this building]; this serves as an inspiration that we all can do it. Konting flex lang — ang sarap ng pakiramdam na may sarili kang building! [Allow me to flex just a bit — it feels great to own a building!] Let’s celebrate this moment — all my consumers, brand ambassadors, and supporters. We’ve made it, and I hope you value that too.”
