PSAU law signing hailed
FORMER president and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for signing the law that would establish the Floridablanca campus of the Pampanga State Agricultural University.
Republic Act 11977, signed by the President on Thursday, February 15, will allow the PSAU-Floridablanca campus to offer short term, technicalvocational, undergraduate, and graduate courses within its areas of competency and specialization.
“The PSAU-Floridablanca Campus shall be mandated to undertake research and extension services, and production activities in support of socioeconomic development and to provide progressive leadership in these areas,” the law said.
The law also mandates the PSAU-Floridablanca campus to “undertake research and extension services, and production activities in support of socioeconomic development and to provide progressive leadership in these areas.”
In a statement on Sunday, February 18, Arroyo thanked Marcos for the speedy approval of the bill originally filed as House Bill 2625.
She added that the approval of the PSAU-Floridablanca law underscored his commitment to providing quality higher education to Filipino students as well as improving the lives of Filipino farmers.
The former president added that the establishment of the campus will bring great benefits to students and farmers of all six towns of her district, where they earn a living from agriculture and in-land aquaculture, and that it would play a significant role in improving the lives of many families in her district.
“I foresee a boom in their incomes when they gain access to the new technologies and research findings, through their children who will study in PSAU-Floridablanca or through the school’s extension services,” Arroyo said.
She said that her constituents have already requested her to relay their gratitude to President Marcos for the law.
