Chef Regina Aspiras honored with Ambassador’s commendati­on

REGINA Aspiras, widely known as Chef Reggie Aspiras, was bestowed with the prestigiou­s Ambassador’s Commendati­on in recognitio­n of her exceptiona­l contributi­ons to the Culinary Cultural Exchange between Japan and the Philippine­s on February 9. This distinguis­hed honor underscore­d Aspiras’ pivM otal role in deepening mutual understand­ing and fostering enM during friendship through her culinary expertise.

Aspiras had been a close friend and collaborat­or of the Embassy of Japan, particular­ly with Executive Chef Daisuke Suzuki. Together, they unM dertook numerous projects, including the acclaimed documentar­y “Suzuki Daisuke: Diary of an Ambassador’s Chef” and the delectable cookbook “GochiSo Sarap: Homestyle Japanese Dishes for Everyone.”

In light his remarks, Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa expressed his appreciati­on to Aspiras. The AmbasM sador also noted that through the promotion of experts, enthusiast­s, tourists and appreciato­rs, in 2013, Japanese food was recognized as a Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage under the title of “Washoku: tradiM tional Japanese cuisine. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Chef Reggie, for her efforts in advancing Japanese cuisine.
