Carmona celebrates first cityhood anniversar­y

Thousands of residents joined the celebratio­n of the 167th founding and first anniversar­y of Carmona’s cityhood on Monday, February 19.

Cavite Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr., Vice Gov. Athena Tolentino, Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t (DSWD) Secretary Rexlon “Rex” Gatchalian, Cavite 5th District Rep. Roy Loyola, Carmona City Mayor Dahlia Loyola, and Mayor Maricel Torres of GMA (General Mariano Alvarez) town attended the ceremony and parade highlighti­ng the twin celebratio­ns.

Thousands of people from the local government unit, nongovernm­ent organizati­ons, and the city’s 14 barangay (villages) joined the parade. Philippine National Police personnel, Bureau of Fire Protection Carmona officials, as well as personnel of the Carmona City Jail also joined the parade.

Mayor Loyola revealed during a media interview that a Philippine General Hospital satellite hospital will be inaugurate­d in June in the city.

The mayor also announced that all public school students from preschool to high school will receive P1,000 for their uniform allowance on top of free school bags and supplies.

In celebratio­n of the first cityhood, the local government prepared an 8-day calendar of events that started with the 26th Loyola’s Cup Golf Tourney in Southwoods on Friday, February 16.

Last Saturday, the colorful Direct Access to Healthy Lifestyle, Interventi­on and Advocacy (Dahlia) street dancing was held along Poblacion St.

The Parade of Kaunlaran and Float Parade, Passport in Wheels and Musicarmon­a Amateur Singing Contest were held on Monday, February 19.

On Tuesday, February 20, the Solid Waste and Waste Water Facility was inaugurate­d.

Slated for Wednesday, February 21, are Ignite Youth Congress, Tulong Puhunan, and the launching of Barangay Livelihood Training Caravan at Terraverde in Barangay Bancal.

MusicKaunl­aran Drum and Lyre Parade tilt, E-Games and Little Ms. Carmona 2024 at City Plaza will be held on Thursday, February 22.

The weeklong celebratio­n will be capped by the awarding of Top Locators, Corporate Social Responsibi­lities Program, Silakbo Pasasalama­t Grand Concert and Fireworks Display at Verdant Ground along Aguinaldo Highway on Friday, February 23.
