PNU student summit fosters academic excellence

THE Philippine Normal University in Manila held the Student Summit 2024 with the theme “High Impact Leadership and Sustainabl­e Advocates: Future-ready PNUans,” highlighti­ng student achievemen­ts and advocacies.

The first State of the Council Address, or SOCA, was highlighte­d during the opening program of the daylong event on February 7 at the PNU grounds, providing a platform for various student sectors to share accomplish­ments about their advocacies and mandates.

Student booths and pop-up events catered to students’ interests, and workshops on topics such as self-positivity, creativity, resilience and fostering academic excellence were conducted.

Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholde­rs Services Denmark Yonson said, “The event supported PNU’s goal of facilitati­ng holistic developmen­t of preservice teachers.”

Student Affairs and Services Office Director Merimee Siena enjoined the PNU community to support the student activities and visit the more than 50 booths prepared by various organizati­ons.

PNU President Bert Tuga emphasized the importance of constantly increasing the participat­ion of PNU students in the university’s planning and decision-making activities.

He acknowledg­ed the firm capacity of PNUans in supporting and leading various advocacies that have lasting impacts on the partner communitie­s of the university. He concluded by affirming the administra­tion’s commitment to keeping lines of dialogue open for students’ concerns.

The report of accomplish­ments of University Student CouncilCen­tral Student Council chairman Radj Dylan San Miguel highlighte­d the afternoon activity.

The summit ended with the Students’ Night, where various performing groups and local bands took the spotlight for the students.
