Ced looks forward to adapt Akari’s system
EVERY hour counts for Ced Domingo.
Straight out of the airport to practice, then having her debut game with the Akari Chargers the next day, Domingo’s schedule has been loaded.
After putting up a fight in the first set, Akari could not keep up with the Cignal HD Spikers’ offensive plays, resulting in a loss in their game-day opener 25-21, 1825, 12-25, 18-25 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference.
Coming home as a volleyball champion in Thailand, Domingo had short minutes with Akari in her debut and tried to contribute to her new PVL squad.
“For me, there was no pressure when I entered the court. I just did what I could to contribute to the team, especially since I just had a one-day training with them,” Domingo said.
“Coming to this game, my expectations of myself were low. We (Akari) still put up a fight, but we fell short.”
The middle-blocker admitted that she is still unfamiliar with Akari’s system, which was evidently seen right after committing an attack error and net touch violation the moment she was inside the court.
“Yesterday was the full training. However, I am still in the adjusting and adapting phase. Since this is a new system and a new environment for me.”
With the rally of events in the past 24 hours of Domingo’s life, she did not deny that she was also overwhelmed with all that was happening.
“Of course, it is overwhelming since I just got off the flight from Thailand, then I trained with the team, right now we have a game.”
“But I am trying to take it all day by day. One day at a time, and learn from Akari’s system. Hopefully, I can incorporate what I learned from playing overseas,” Domingo said.
Domingo will face her former PVL team Creamline Cool Smashers on Thursday, February 29, at 6 p.m., at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
