Marcos lauds CPD for enhancing PH communities’ well-being

-

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recognized the contributions of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) for its committed service to the Filipino nation for more than 5 decades as the agency marked its emerald anniversary on February 19.

In his message, the President highlighted CPD’s goal of enhancing and improving communities nationwide as it offered strategic initiatives that empowered individuals while promoting social growth.

“In a world characterized by increasing urbanization, shifting demographic patterns and pressing environmental concerns, your work takes on an even greater significance,” Marcos said of the agency, which was established during his father’s administration by virtue of Executive Order 171 on Feb. 19, 1969. It effectively created the founding organizational structure of the commission, then known as Popcom.

Marcos commended CPD for collaborating closely with relevant government institutions, civil service organizations, the academe and other allied groups that enabled the agency to “amplify diverse voices and perspectives, [while creating] safe and effective spaces for meaningful exchanges and collective problem solving.”

“I hope that you will challenge stereotypes, stigmas and discriminatory practices to advance inclusive policies and programs,” Marcos added.

“Together, let us welcome the opportunities ahead, united in our shared vision of a Bagong Pilipinas, where everyone can thrive, where population dynamics are better understood and harnessed for the greater good, and where social justice guides our path [toward] a brighter future,” Marcos concluded.
