PNP gets P10M for ending crime group
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) received P10 million from House Committee on Appropriations Chairman and Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co for ending the Concepcion Criminal Group, which has been engaged in various criminal activities in Bicol and across the country.
Co said that the neutralization of the gang and its leader, Gilbert Saysay Concepcion is a “monumental win” for the PNP and its broader quest for peace and order in the country, while also underscores the competence, perseverance and courage of police personnel.
“The neutralization of the Concepcion Gang is a big deal. It has been a problem for so long and I promised to give P10 million out of my own pocket to capture this criminal and terrorist group,” Co said.
Concepcion, also known by the alias Bert or Pogi and Laeco Josie Quite Saysay, a member of the group, were killed during an armed encounter on January 24 at San Martin de Porres, Parañaque.
The group is known to be engaged in various criminal activities, including assassinations, extortion and illegal arms trade.
“The death of Gilbert Concepcion, the leader of the notorious Concepcion Criminal Group, shows the competence of our policemen in removing organized crime networks and protecting our citizens.” Co said.
The reward, Co added, is a recognition of the heroism of policemen who are ready to sacrifice their lives to ensure the safety of the public.
“Our police officers’ bravery and sacrifices, who confront dangers to protect us, are deeply appreciated,” Co said.
