Panagbenga peaceful, well-organized – mayor
City Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of street dancing on February 24 (Saturday) and the floral float on February 25 (Sunday), describing the two events as “very peaceful, very systematic and well-organized.”
The street dancing and the floral float parades were the highlights of the 28th Baguio Flower Festival, more popularly known as Panagbenga.
The mayor disclosed that based on a report of the Baguio City Police Office, no crimes were committed during the entire duration of Sunday’s float parade while only three incidents of thefts were registered during Saturday’s street dancing parade, where all the pickpockets were immediately collared by authorities.
Compared to 2019 (before the Covid pandemic),
Magalong pointed out that the number of street crimes committed during this year’s Panagbenga celebration, so far, have significantly decreased by more than 40 percent.
“Talagang napakaganda at napakaayos (It was really beautiful and orderly). We have more floats this year that have truly leveled up, and the street dancing presentations were all nice. The floats designs and workmanship are world-class. Overall, both parades were very successful,” stressed Magalong.
“So many people have participated in this year’s Panagbenga celebration. Hopefully, this will be another ‘big bang’ for the city of Baguio,” he said.
The 2024 Panagbenga festival, which ends on March 3, is spearheaded by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc., in partnership with the city government.
