RSBSA registration in Cagayan up 94% in 2024
The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera said it recorded a 94-percent enrollment in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) this year.
Based on the continued updating of the office’s electronic database of farmers, fisherfolk and farm laborers in the region, the RSBSA data coming from the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED) of DA-CAR showed 273,994 newly encoded registrants as of February 7, which is close to the target of 290,195.
For the first quarter of 2024, DA-CAR PMED said Benguet had the highest number of recorded registrations with 71,552 newly encoded registrants, followed by Ifugao with 46,640 newly encoded registrants, while Mountain Province ranked third with 51,189.
Kalinga province placed fourth with 37,713 newly encoded registrants; Abra, fifth, with 44,398; and Apayao, sixth, with 22,502.
The registrants will be part of the national targeting mechanism for the identification of beneficiaries for different agriculture-related programs and services of the government.
As the agency’s primary stakeholders, the registrant’s individual information is essential for proper planning, implementation and monitoring of agricultural projects and targeted interventions in the region.
The regional RSBSA electronic database details the department’s broader plan to digitalize operations to reduce costs in the food value chain, widen market access to make agriculture a more profitable venture and provide consumers with a stable supply of reasonably priced food.
The regional and national registry strengthens the integrity of the data on the agency’s target beneficiaries that the agriculture sector serves, aside from minimizing duplication and improves the suitability of programs to beneficiaries.
