4Ps recipients in Aklan graduate from program
DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez reported on Wednesday, February 28, that 1,182 household beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Aklan province graduated from the program in February.
“We would like to congratulate all our 4Ps graduates from the province of Aklan for their commitment to improve the lives of their family members and ensure that their children will have a good future,” Lopez said.
On February 16, 20, 22 and 27, the graduates were recognized during the ANI 2024 Simultaneous Graduation Ceremony, which was hosted by DSWD Field Office-6 (Western Visayas). The graduation ceremony’s purpose is to recognize 4Ps families that have achieved Level 3, or self-sufficiency.
“Their exit from the 4Ps program does not mean that the government will let go of them completely,” Lopez said.
“The DSWD Field Office Western Visayas endorsed these families to their respective local government units (LGUs) as part of the aftercare program to ensure that they will not slide back to poverty,” he added.
The households are among the 1.2 million 4Ps recipients who are set to exit the program this year under the 4Ps Kilos-Unlad (KU) Framework.
The KU Framework is a seven-year social case management system that guides the upkeep of 4Ps recipient families toward better living, signals their withdrawal from the program and allows other poor families to receive aid.The 4Ps is the government’s national poverty reduction plan and human capital investment program, which provides qualified household recipients with conditional cash transfers.
It is a human development program that provides social protection, assistance, and other complementary support services to improve the health and nutrition, education and socioeconomic aspects of the beneficiaries’ lives.
Currently, 4.4 million households benefit from the DSWD’s 4Ps program.
