Security Bank continues to create meaningful impact through CSR
SECURITY Bank continues to deliver meaningful impact to communities through its various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. To do this, the bank takes a holistic approach to giving by assessing the needs of people and communities with strategic program partners.
To celebrate these partner beneficiaries, the Bank hosts the “Better banking for better impact: Kamustahan” lunch at its head office in Makati City.
The event shows appreciation for the Bank's CSR partners, which includes Kythe Foundation, Rural Rising Philippines, Art Association of the Philippines, the National Museum of the Philippines and the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs to name a few.
During the lunch, the bank receives updates from each partner and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in 2024.
Tanya Deakin, first vice president and corporate communications and brand division head of Security Bank says:“At Security Bank, we aim to create value for our stakeholders, including the communities where we operate. We're proud of our community partnerships— national government agencies, local government units, academic institutions and other foundations—that advocate for education, health and wellness, enterprise development, arts and culture, disaster recovery and women empowerment.”
One such partner is Kythe Foundation, which provides vital support to cancer survivors and pediatric patients. Its “Adopt a survivor” program offers educational assistance for these survivors.
It also works with Security Bank to help pediatric patients and their families through Food for the Kids, a food provision program patterned after the government's “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.”
Odette Magno, Kythe executive director says: “The [kids] have a higher chance of survival so the support really becomes more meaningful. Please, let's all support Kythe and make it [a really] very successful organization for the sake of the children who need our help.”
During the holiday season, the bank promotes a culture of giving through projects such as the “Employee giving Christmas campaign” to support scholars and marginalized families, which resulted in over P200,000 cash and/or credit card points for beneficiaries of Security Bank's “Adopt a scholar” program.
Furthermore, under the care of the Center for Community Transformation, over 390 gifts sets are donated to street children. The bank also partners with the International Care Ministries to deliver 60 Noche Buena packs to marginalized families in Baranggay Sudtungan, Lapu Lapu City and Baranggay Suba, Danao in Cebu.
Security Bank also runs its “Rural rising Philippines box all you can” program to support local farmers. To participate in this interactive game, over 230 employees contribute a nominal fee of P799 to “shop” from the harvests of local farmers within a 10-minute period.
The box all you can activity helps 29 farmers from Luzon, whose livelihood was affected by over-production. Over 4,000 kilograms of produce, which would have otherwise gone to waste, is purchased.
Security Bank Foundation Inc.'s (SBFI) flagship “Build a school, build a nation” program sees 771 classrooms within 138 school buildings donated to 118 beneficiary schools, reaching 184,000 students in 79 cities or municipalities.
SBFI receives recognition from the Department of Education as one of its biggest partners in the “Adopt a school” program, with over P1 billion in investments since 2011.
For 2024, Security Bank's CSR upcoming efforts will include support of Community Crafts Association of the Philippines' Lokalakalan Fair in March, National Heritage Month in May and various art-related events in partnership with Art Association of the Philippines.
