InfiniVAN launches PH Domestic Submarine Cable Network
INFINIVAN Inc. —@ a japanM affiliated telco corporation in the Philippines under IPS, which is a company listed on the ToM kyo Stock Exchange — officially inaugurated its portion of the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) during a lighting up ceremony at The Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City on Feb. 15, 2024.
The event was attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Lucas BersaM min, Department of Information and Communications TechnolM ogy Secretary Ivan John Uy, Japan Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa and InfiniVAN Chairman Koji Miyashita.
The PDSCN was a joint-build project worth $150 million and was undertaken by InfiniVAN toM gether with two other Philippine telcos, namely Globe Telecom and Eastern Telecom.
The project spanned over 2,500 wet segment kilometers with 32 cable landing points in the reM gions of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
This project aimed to provide better and equal internet quality for metropolitan areas as well as geographically isolated and disM advantaged areas, supporting the current administration’s vision for a digitally connected Philippines.
President Marcos’s plan for a digital-ready Philippines aligned with PDSCN’s goal of reaching and delivering high-quality interM net even to the underserved areas of the country, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
The lighting up of PDSCN signiM fied new hope for all sectors and industries in the Philippines in achieving world-class internet conM nectivity for all Filipinos sooner than later.
