The One’s here! All-new MG One launched in PH
READY to make the hot crossover SUV market in the country even hotter, SAIC MOTOR PHILIPPINES OFfiCIALLY LAUNCHED the all-new MG One. The latest from MG was showcased for an entire weekend starting Feb. 21, 2024, at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.
After receiving a positive reception as it made waves over the internet, the MG One made its official Philippine debut packed with its suite of smart technology. The newest crossover SUV segment contender is the first from the brand to be developed under the SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture (Sigma). According to MG, using the newest platform can be utilized for over 100 kinds of modules, enabling the creation of a variety of future MG models to serve the different needs of the market.
The MG One features a sleek exterior with an à la shooting-brake silhouette. It exudes an athletic and active aura highlighted by its broad frontal appearance, further underscored by its three-dimensional LED headlighting combined with its “sonic boom” front grille. The top variant rolls on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels while the base comes with a set of 18s.
Aside from being the first Sigma model in the country, another highlight of the latest from MG is its smart technology that promises to make daily driving easier. Stepping inside its classy and futuristic interior layout, the driver is welcomed by the six-way adjustable electric seat. Natural light may also come into the cabin via the panoramic sunroof.
A unique feature of its cockpit is its 30-inch wraparound triple screen layout, which consists of a 5.4-inch touchscreen switch, 12.3-inch driver information center, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Another cockpit layout that drivers will surely love is its thrust-style intuitive electronic gear selector, which adds to the interior’s futuristic vibe. It also comes with a smart key passive entry system with remote engine start. Convenience is furthered with the wireless phone charger feature available in the top-of-the-line Lux variant.
Powering the MG One is a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that is rated to output 170 PS and 285 Nm torque. These numbers are transferred to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) system.
More than making you feel good on every ride with its classy cabin, the latest crossover SUV also assures safety on every drive with its advanced driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, intelligent high-beam control, traffic jam assistance, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and door opening warning. It also has a 360-degree around-view camera for tight maneuvers.
After going through all this, it might surprise you that the all-new MG One offers all these impressive features with just a P 1.299-million price tag for the 1.5 CVT Std variant and P1.459 million for the top-of-the-line 1.5 CVT Lux. But making it an even better deal is its introductory pricing which puts P75,000 off the suggested retail price for the base and P68,000 off the top-of-the-line model. As for color availability, Fizzy Orange, Brighton Blue, Extreme Speed Red, Moon White, Iron Oxide, and Meteorite Black are available for both variants with the top-most getting distinction with a two-tone black roof.
