Honda Collection Hall in Tochigi set to reopen
HONDA Motor Co. Ltd. recently announced that the much-awaited reopening of the Honda Collection Hall at the Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi, Japan, will finally take place on March 1, 2024, following a 3-month renovation.
Originally inaugurated in March 1998 to commemorate Honda’s 50th anniversary, the Collection Hall has served as a gateway for visitors to delve into Honda’s rich history and pioneering spirit. After celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, the facility underwent a comprehensive renewal to offer an enhanced and immersive experience for guests.
The exhibits have been meticulously curated to enable visitors to delve into the “stories of dreams and challenges” that define Honda’s journey since its inception. With panels chronicling Honda’s evolution from its founding, each floor promises an immersive journey through Honda’s philosophy and history, enriched by audio tours and guided experiences led by Collection Hall staff members.
Among the notable additions is a fullsize interior mockup model of the HondaJet Elite 2, showcased in the entrance hall on the first floor, inviting visitors to explore its luxurious design. Moreover, new interactive exhibits allow guests to engage directly with Honda mobility products, including the opportunity to ride the latest UNI-ONE personal mobility device.
In addition to the Collection Hall, Honda continues its commitment to showcasing its products and corporate endeavors across various facilities, including the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and the upcoming Honda Racing Gallery at Suzuka Circuit Park in Suzuka, Mie.
The renewed Collection Hall is thoughtfully divided into four sections by era, offering visitors a seamless journey through Honda’s illustrious history. From the company’s humble beginnings in the 1940s to its innovative ventures in robotics and aviation in the present day, each section encapsulates the essence of Honda’s pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence.
As part of the renewal, the Garage Collection will present special exhibits three times a year, featuring items that complement the permanent displays. The inaugural exhibit, “CB History — Part 1: Pioneer Models of Super Sports Bikes,” will kick off on March 1, 2024, showcasing successive generations of CB series models.
In addition to the captivating exhibits, the Collection Hall now features a Library and Design Gallery, providing visitors with a space to unwind and explore a wealth of motorcycle and automobile magazines. The Design Gallery showcases product design sketches and artworks, offering insight into Honda’s creative process.
Visitors can also immerse themselves in the Honda experience through original music composed by Chiaki Kubota and performed by the Japan Popular Classics Orchestra, tailored to complement each era of Honda’s history.
The Honda Collection Hall, located at the Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture, welcomes visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., promising an unforgettable journey through Honda’s illustrious past and promising future.
