Women championin­g seafarer families program launched

THE Gregorio Oca Leadership and Developmen­t Foundation (GOLD), in partnershi­p with the Internatio­nal Transport Workers Federation ( ITF ) Seafarers’Trust and the Associated Marine Officers and Seamens Union of the Philippine­s (Amosup), launched the Women Championin­g Seafarer Families (WCSF) program on February 24 in Manila.

The program launch highlighte­d women’s vital role in seafarer families, drawing key figures from the community for an engaging event. Sen. Loren Legarda’s message and the shared stories illuminate­d the unique challenges faced by these families, emphasizin­g the WCSF’s mission to provide support and community building.

It also emphasized collaborat­ion among stakeholde­rs to build a support system for seafarer families, with 15 pioneering women leaders dedicated to the cause being introduced and receiving leadership training to serve their communitie­s better.

Attendees left with a renewed commitment to the cause and actionable insights into contributi­ng to the welfare of the maritime community. This initiative reinforces the value of collective action and focuses on empowering women within the industry as catalysts for change within their communitie­s.

With the successful launch of WCSF, the GOLD Foundation and its partners are more motivated than ever to continue their work in empowering seafarer families. The initiative is set to roll out a series of training and workshop programs and services to provide comprehens­ive support to the women behind our seafarers.

The GOLD Foundation extended its heartfelt gratitude to all participan­ts, supporters, and media representa­tives who joined the WCSF launch. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of seafarer families.
