Bossing eye win no. 3 vs FiberXers

- RICHARD DY

BLACKWATER guns for the solo lead and a rare 3-0 start when it battles winless Converge as the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup resumes today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bossing shoot for their third straight victory in their 4:30 p.m. match against the FiberXers.

Coach Jeff Cariaso said new acquisition Rey Nambatac is day-to-day since suffering a grade 1 sprained ankle in the early part of the Bossing’s 87-76 win over the TNT Tropang Giga over the weekend.

The left-handed guard debuted for his new team last week by churning out 27 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in the Bossings’ 96-93 triumph against the Meralco Bolts on opening day.

Blackwater is facing a Converge side that dropped its first two assignments against Terrafirma and NorthPort.

Still, don’t expect Blackwater to take the charges of coach Aldin Ayo lightly.

“Every game for us we treat it like a playoff. We know the energy and focus is different (in the elimination round) so the ask of the staff (to the players) is to level up (their play),” Cariaso said, as he leans on veteran forward Troy Rosario, along with guard RK Ilagan and Rey Suerte, to lead the charge.

Meanwhile, Meralco guns for its second straight win in three starts when it tangles with sister team NLEX in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

The Bolts bounced back from the conference-opening loss to the Bossing by outlasting the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in overtime 121-117.

NLEX, on the other hand, is coming off a 99-95 loss to Terrafirma over the weekend, since opening the conference with a 107-100 overtime win against NorthPort.
