‘Art 2 Art’ marks 17th anniversary with Kuh Ledesma

-

ART advocacy program “Art 2 Art” with Lisa Macuja Elizalde is marking its 17th anniversary with singer-actress-painter Kuh Ledesma as its special guest in its episode airing today, March 10, 3:30 p.m.

Acclaimed as the country’s Pop Diva, Ledesma talks about how she shifted from a career in nursing to one in entertainment. Starting out as a vocalist in bands like Music and Magic, she eventually ventured on her own. She carved a successful solo career in music as a recording artist and concert performer spanning over four decades. She has also gone into acting and several years back, returned to an early love: painting.

Despite having known Ledesma previously, Macuja Elizalde admits to being awed while interviewing the singer-actress.

“I was starstruck. I knew her from watching her in ‘Rama Hari’ with Basil Valdez and then working with her on several concerts at the Music Museum.”

Since 2007, Art 2 Art has featured hundreds of personalities from various art genres — film, dance, visual arts, theater, music, literature, design and architecture. A fire that struck the Star City complex, where the studio is located, halted the show in October 2019. The following year, plans for its return stalled when the pandemic hit. But, replays of the program continued to air.

Art 2 Art finally returned with new episodes in November 2023, with National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab as guest. He was also the show’s very first guest in 2007 when it was still just on radio.

The revitalized show has renewed its commitment to put artists of all disciplines in the spotlight in its aim to popularize arts and culture through its massbased, “info-tainment” programming.

“Usapang sining at kultura para sa lahat (Art and culture discussion for all)” is what Macuja Elizalde promises as Art 2 Art celebrates its 17th year.

Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company and hosted by “Ballerina ng Bayan” Lisa Macuja Elizalde, the show airs nationwide on radio via DZRH and on cable television via DZRH News TV and is streamed online on www.dzrh.com. ph. Previous episodes are also posted in the Art 2 Art channel on YouTube.
