Baguio bags 7 DSWD awards
The city government under Mayor Benjamin Magalong bagged seven regional awards for its social welfare programs during the 73rd anniversary celebration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) held recently at the Newtown Plaza Hotel here.
City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) head Liza Bulayungan said the Summer Capital bagged the following awards:
Gawad sa Makabagong Teknolohiya and Gawad Serbisyo under the Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon (Panata ko sa Bayan) category; Model LGU Implementing Day Care Service, Model LGU Implementing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and Model LGU Implementing Sustainable Livelihood Program-Micro Enterprise Dev’t Model under the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (Gapas) category; and the Social Welfare and Development (SWD) Laws Prime Mover and Good Practice Award under the Paglaray category.
Magalong joined Bulayungan, CSWDO acting assistant Cynthia Langagan and Social Welfare Officer 4 Ellen William in receiving the awards during the program.
The DSWD said the Panata ko sa Bayan Awards is an annual activity organized by the DSWD “to recognize partners, stakeholders, and intermediaries whose vow is to advance and champion the delivery of social welfare programs and services to improve the poor and disadvantaged sector of our society.”
On the other hand, the Gapas Award recognizes the efforts of partners and local government units (LGUs) in the effective delivery of social welfare and development programs and services. The Paglaray Awards, meanwhile, gives honor to LGUs for exemplary performance in the localization, compliance, and monitoring of SWD laws, exemplifying efficient and effective mechanisms in ensuring the quality and responsive programs and services at the local level.
