Van Sickle wants to be consistent

-

PETRO Gazz’s Brooke Van Sickle is no angel inside the court as she beasted with a 24-point performance against the Akari Chargers.

Van Sickle led the charge for Petro Gazz with a 25-21, 25-23, 25-17 versus Akari to improve their standings to 3-1 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference last Saturday, March 9, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Early in the conference, Van Sickle now ranks second in PVL’s best scorers with 72 points, behind Fil-Canadian Savannah Davison (73 points). The Filipino American outside hitter emphasized the importance of being consistent in all of her games.

“I mean my goal for this conference is just to be consistent and I feel like my mindset is going into the game just one point at a time,” Van Sickle told the press.

“It is what it is. If you make errors, things happen and we got to keep rolling.”

In her 24-point performance on 18 attacks, four aces, and two blocks, Van Sickle remained humble and credited her teammates.

“Volleyball is not a one person sport, right? You have your teammates and at the end of the day I scored 24 points but I can’t do that without my teammates,” she said.

“My teammates are extremely comfortable for me to be able to play and I know when I am hitting they have my back. When I make errors, I know they are going to make up for it or they will have me emotionally.”

The Petro Gazz will need Van Sickle’s firepower as they will next face the Farm Fresh Foxies, who stunned the seasoned Chery Tiggo Crossovers in their previous match.

“At the end of the day, again like whoever is on the other side of the court, we have to focus on our side to make sure we’re taking care of limiting our errors and carrying ourselves in a way we want,” Van Sickle said.

“That is basically our goal. All the teams are good so we have to make sure that we have to make sure that we have to focus on ourselves and make sure we’re composed going in with full energy at all times.”
