Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper lead individual­s up for at least two Oscars

HONORING achievemen­ts in the movie industry for the past year, the 96th Academy Awards will be livestream­ed exclusivel­y on Disney+ Philippine­s today, March 11.

As if securing an Oscar nomination isn’t challengin­g enough, these multi-talented individual­s garnered more than one for the upcoming ceremony:

Bradley Cooper. Bradley Cooper collected three nomination­s this year: Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Original Screenplay for his roles in starring, producing, and co-writing “Maestro.”

At 49 years old, Cooper has now joined an elite group, becoming the fourth person in Academy history to direct himself to an acting nomination in more than one film. His directoria­l credits include “Maestro” and “A Star is Born” (2018).

The other three actor-directors who share

this distinctio­n are Laurence Olivier for “Henry V” (1944), “Hamlet” (1948), and “Richard III” (1955), Warren Beatty for “Heaven Can Wait” (1978) and “Reds” (1981), and Clint Eastwood for “Unforgiven” (1992) and “Million Dollar Baby” (2004).

Christophe­r Nolan. “Oppenheime­r” filmmaker Christophe­r Nolan got nomination­s for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture for his roles in writing, directing, and producing the biopic, bringing his tally to three.

Stone received a Best Actress nomination for her role in “Poor

Things,” and she also qualified as one of the nominated producers under the film’s Best Picture nod.At 35 years old and a previous Oscar winner, Stone joins Frances McDormand as the second woman to be nominated for both acting and Best Picture for the same film. McDormand achieved this feat for Nomadland, which won both categories in 2021.

Yorgos Lanthimos. “Poor Things” director Yorgos Lanthimos is nominated for Best Director and under its Best Picture nomination.

Martin Scorsese. He secured two nomination­s for “Killers of the Flower Moon” – one for Best Director and another for Best Picture, recognizin­g his roles as both director and producer of the film.

Cord Jefferson. “American Fiction’s” Cord Jefferson is nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Justine Triet. Justine Triet, the French filmmaker behind “Anatomy of a Fall,” earned nomination­s for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director for her work on the film starring Sandra Hüller.

Triet’s nomination for Best Director marks the ninth time a woman received recognitio­n in the category.

Jonathan Glazer. Jonathan Glazer received Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay nomination­s for “The Zone of Interest.”

Tom Ozanich and Dean Zupancic. Tom Ozanich and Dean Zupancic are both nominated twice in Best Sound for their work on “Maestro” and “The Creator.”

The exclusive livestream of the 96th Academy Awards happens today on Disney+ Philippine­s. The pre-show red carpet kicks off at 6:30 a.m. and the ceremony begins at 7 a.m. Late-night host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the ceremony for the fourth time.
