Subaru PH holds adventure tour drive

Bridging adventure to customers

- BY MIKA FERNANDEZ DAVID

IN a move that challenges conventional perceptions of adventure vehicles, Motor Image Pilipinas (MPI), the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, has launched the Subaru Adventure Tour Drive.

This initiative aims to provide both current and potential Subaru clients with firsthand experience of the brand’s off-road capabilities, showcasing the versatility of Subaru vehicles beyond urban settings.

To kick off this immersive journey, MPI invited media guests to a day trip to Tanay, Rizal to sample what guests can expect when they join the experiential drive. No less than Glenn Tan, deputy chairman and managing director of Tan Chong International Ltd., the principal of Subaru distributor Motor Image, flew in from Singapore to welcome guests and encourage them to have fun with their fleet that was “built for adventures.”

The trip to Camp Well River Valley in Daraitan, Tanay from Subaru Manila Bay took three hours and was a challenge in itself. Negotiating through the typical weekday traffic of Metro Manila’s eastern outskirts, the roads progressively narrowed and became more demanding after veering off the Marilaque highway. The roads were bumpy, to say the least, but our group was fortunate to have the very comfortable — and capable — Subaru Outback to drive to the campsite and to use for the rest of the day.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with food, refreshments and a selection of activities, including driving Subaru vehicles in a designated section of the Daraitan River. While the water depth wasn’t significant, the experience proved exhilarating, and it was definitely something you don’t get to do intentionally very often.

After a long day, we had the luxury of

being driven back to the dealership in a Subaru Outback. Its comfortable seats and powerful airconditioning rocked us to sleep and in a hot minute (not really, it still took around 3 hours), we were back where we started.

Customers who sign up for the adventure are in for a treat because getting the chance to breathe fresh air and commune with nature, in a Subaru, no less, is something you wouldn’t want to miss.

Subaru’s lineup, including the Crosstrek compact crossover, Forester compact SUV, and the versatile Outback midsize SUV, underscores the brand’s commitment to blending urban sophistication with rugged capability. Its core technologies such as its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive System (SAWD), boxer engine, Subaru Global Platform, and Enhanced EyeSight elevate performance, safety and crash protection, ensuring a seamless driving experience across diverse terrains.

The Subaru Adventure Tour Drive is set to visit key locations nationwide throughout the year. Residents of the Visayas can look forward to the Bacolod leg on June 28, 2024, while Mindanao residents can sign up for the Davao drive scheduled for Sept. 27, 2024. Luzon residents can also look forward to their adventure in the last quarter of the year.

To secure a slot for the upcoming drives, interested parties are encouraged to visit their nearest Subaru showroom or reach out to accredited Subaru agents. As Subaru bridges adventure closer to its customers, the Adventure Tour Drive promises unparalleled experiences and unforgettable memories for all participants.
