Bossing shoot for 4-0 start in PBA

- RICHARD DY

A REVITALIZED Blackwater side shoots for a rare 4-0 start when the Bossing take on the Robert Bolick-led NLEX five as action in the Season 48 PBA Philippine Cup resumes today, Wednesday, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Bossing and the Road Warriors tangle at 4:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. tussle between Terrafirma Dyip (2-1) and Phoenix (0-2).

Blackwater booked its third straight win last week after beating Converge, 90-78.

The Jeff Cariaso-mentored squad is now one win away from tying its franchise-best 4-0 start, which the Bossing achieved during the 2018 Governors’ Cup.

But that’s easier said than done against an NLEX side that had won its last two games to enter Wednesday’s game tied with NorthPort at 3-1.

Bolick is also coming off a new PBA career-best 46 points, where he shot 17-of-26 from the floor.

Cariaso knows the team is on unfamiliar ground at this point but reminds his wards to keep working hard as they look to make the playoffs in the All-Filipino conference.

“We’re still very young together. We haven’t been together for a long time, so we need to stay focused, taking it one game at a time,” said Cariaso, whose team will have troy Rosario, Rey Suerte and rookie big man Christian David manning the fort.

Conference break acquisition Rey Nambatac is listed as day-to-day after spraining his ankle last week but should be a welcome addition if he gets to play against the Road Warriors.

Meanwhile, the Dyip will try to bounce back strong against the Fuel Masters, who have dropped their first two games this conference.

Terrafirma got off to a rare 2-0 start and had a chance to make it three in a row, but just fell short against TNT, 100-97, last weekend.

Stephen Holt, this season’s top rookie pick, along with Juami Tiongson and Javi Gomez de Liano, will be at the forefront for the Dyip.
