CinePanalo film fest pledges support for Mowelfund
THE upcoming Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival has announced its partnership with the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. (Mowelfund), pledging continued support for the Philippine film industry, particularly emerging filmmakers and narratives reflecting Filipino life and culture.
Established in 1974, Mowelfund is a non-profit foundation dedicated to social welfare, education, and industry development within the Philippine movie landscape.
Veteran actress and longtime Mowelfund Chairman Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo expressed the foundation’s gratitude to the film festival organizer, saying, “Thank you, Puregold, for CinePanalo, offering assistance to filmmakers in featuring films that delve into wholesome family themes.”
Following months of careful selection, Cinepanalo unveiled its list of grant recipients, including six directors for full-length films and 25 student filmmakers for short films, chosen from over 200 pitches nationwide.
The festival, themed “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay,” will be held at the Gateway Cineplex 18 in Araneta City from March 15 to 17 and will showcase stories of kinship, perseverance, and the Filipino spirit.
As a token of appreciation, Mowelfund acknowledged Puregold’s support for its 50th-anniversary medical and dental mission, which will provide grocery gift bags to film community members.
Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad likewise thanked MOWELFUND and their partners for allowing the giant grocery discount chain to do their part in contributing to the Philippine movie industry’s continued development.
Keenly aware of media and entertainment’s ability to spur development across society and various industries, Puregold has branched out into producing original series in line with its advocacy to improve the lives of Filipinos. These titles can be found on Puregold’s official YouTube channel.
