Japan envoy optimistic of PH tenure
INCOMING Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya said he looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with the country.
He will replace Koshikawa Kazuhiko, whose tenure ended on March 5.
“I look forward to your continued partnership with our Embassy and my successor Ambassador Endo Kazuya. I hope to visit the Philippines again as a tourist soon,” Koshikawa said in a letter to the media.
Koshikawa hailed the strength of the bond between Japan and the Philippines, noting that it marked a golden age in the bilateral relations of the two countries.
“This achievement would not have been possible without your commitment and dedication in highlighting the significant milestones that have defined our journey,” he wrote.
Endo was the former directorgeneral of the International Cooperation Bureau under Japan’s
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On Wednesday, Endo posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he met with his predecessor Koshikawa Kazuhiko, as he prepares to fly to Manila.
“Listening to his presentation about his experiences in the Philippines, I am eager to meet our Filipino friends and begin my journey in this exciting country,” the post read.
Endo was delighted that Filipinos are big fans of Japanese anime and pop culture.
“After Voltes V, I wonder what I can bring next. Looking forward to witnessing and sharing the Japan hype with you firsthand,” he said. In another post, he praised the goodness of Philippine fruits.
“It’s likely they sent an advance party to treat me to these tasty goodies. Ready to peel away barriers and dive into fruitful collaboration,” Endo said.
