P3.4-M shabu seized in Bicol, four nabbed
LEGAZPI CITY: Police operatives arrested four pushers and seized P3.4 million worth of shabu in an anti-drug operation in Sipocot Camarines Sur on Wednesday, March 13, LtCol. Maria Luisa Calubaquid, Philippine National Police Bicol regional command spokesman, said.
The four pushers arrested in the operation were identified as alias Sam, 52; Lian, 47; Ed, 47; and Noy, who are all residents of Barangay Tara, Sipocot, Camarines Sur.
Calubaquid said the suspects were all classified as high-value targets. They were apprehended at about 7:44 p.m. in their barangay.
Calubaquid said that 500 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P3,400,000 were confiscated from the four suspects.
The drug items were concealed in two transparent plastic sachets.
The arrest of the four drug pushers was made possible through the collaborative efforts of a composite team comprising personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Camarines Sur, Sipocot Municipal Police Station, and Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office PDEU, in coordination with PDEA regional office, Calubaquid said.
“This is the continuing and solid commitment to combat illegal drug activities, and the police regional office has once again achieved a significant breakthrough in a recent buybust operation,” she said.
BGen. Andre Dizon, PNP Bicol regional director, vowed to intensify their efforts in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
“To achieve this, PRO 5 will reinforce its collaboration with partner agencies and further broaden its scope of operations. In addition to enforcement actions, PRO 5 recognizes the importance of preventative measures in addressing the drug menace,” the PNP official said.
Drug awareness education initiatives will be intensified to raise community awareness and deter individuals from engaging in drug-related activities.
