Lopa: Rereading James Clavell’s “Shogun,” a favorite from my teens, to keep up with the remake of the TV series.

Periquet: I tend to go for nonfiction, so I read “The Houses That Sugar Built,” about houses built with sugar money in the Philippines in the early part of the 20th century.
