AWARD-winning musical theater artist Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, dubbed as the First Lady of Philippine Musicals, was among the 20 personalities honored with a fivepoint brass star in the Eastwood City Walk of Fame for her contributions to the theater industry.

Lauchengco-Yulo was the only musical theater artist to be inducted in the 18th edition of the Eastwood City Walk of Fame on March 6.

She has played over 100 roles in both musicals and plays, in different theater companies, making her one of the most versatile actresses today. She has gone on to direct several musicals as well as an added feather to her cap.

At 15, Lauchengco-Yulo made her onstage debut and has built a fourdecade long legacy since then. Her performances in numerous productions including “Next to Normal,” “Passion,” “Evita,” “Miss Saigon,” “Annie,” “King and I,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical” made her a true icon in Philippine theater.

She continues to play an exceptional role offstage as the co-artistic director of Full House Theater Company and President of Original Pilipino Performing Arts Foundation of Newport World Resorts.
