Bong Go helps displaced workers in Pampanga

SEN. Christophe­r “Bong” Go helped about 500 displaced workers in Arayat, Pampanga as part of the government’s efforts to support individual­s facing economic difficulti­es

On Thursday, March 14, the senator collaborat­ed with Mayor Madir Alejandrin­o and Vice Mayor Bon Alejandrin­o in the distributi­on of grocery packs, masks, snacks, shirts, and balls for basketball and volleyball to the beneficiar­ies

Some selected individual­s also received bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, and watches.

“Do not thank us. We should be the ones thanking you. I will prioritize programs that will help our poor fellowmen,” Go said in a speech in Filipino.

Representa­tives from the Department of Labor and Employment facilitate­d the provision of livelihood aid through its Tulong Panghanapb­uhay sa Ating Disadvanta­ged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program.

The Tupad program is designed to offer temporary employment to those who are disadvanta­ged, displaced, underemplo­yed and seasonal workers, aiming to alleviate their current hardships by engaging them in community service and small infrastruc­ture projects.

He is also one of the authors and co-sponsors of Republic Act 11960 or the “One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippine­s Act,” which aims to “nurture the growth” of micro, small and medium enterprise­s nationwide.

On that same day, the senator joined a medical mission in Lubao, Pampanga led by Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, where about 1,000 residents benefited

The medical mission, which was held at Pineda Sports Complex, was aimed at providing basic health care services to the community.

Go lauded the Lubao local government for improving the well-being of their constituen­ts and stressed the importance of joint efforts in bringing health care closer to the people.
