CDC chief redefines leadership at DoJ Women’s Month celebration
THE first female president of Clark Development Corp. (CDC) shared a fresh perspective at this year’s Women’s Month celebration.
Gracing the event as the guest of honor and speaker at the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) flag-raising ceremony on March 11, CDC chief Agnes Devanadera underscored women’s leadership journey while acknowledging men’s vital support.
“Women have been transformed into leaders. The women and men formed service-oriented leaders, and for that, in the celebration of Women’s Month, we just have to give credit to the men for allowing the women to bloom and blossom,” said Devanadera, who was appointed twice as full-pledged Justice secretary.
In his special message, DoJ Undersecretary Raul Vasquez underscored the importance of recognizing women’s achievements and inspiring future generations of female leaders.
“You [referring to Devanadera] embody, you encapsulate a woman of power, a woman of accomplishment, sincerity and decency, and I think every woman in the Department of Justice and the country would really be in a position to exalt you and to follow your lead,” he said.
The CDC chief highlighted the significant rise in female enrollment in law schools, surpassing males, and the increasing presence of women in the judiciary and the National Prosecution Service, indicating progress in gender equality.
Furthermore, she emphasized DoJ’s dedication to challenging stereotypes and empowering women to move beyond traditional roles.
Devanadera also underscored the importance of women’s perspectives, which contribute to fairness, balance and attention to detail within the justice system.
