CDC chief redefines leadership at DoJ Women’s Month celebratio­n

THE first female president of Clark Developmen­t Corp. (CDC) shared a fresh perspectiv­e at this year’s Women’s Month celebratio­n.

Gracing the event as the guest of honor and speaker at the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) flag-raising ceremony on March 11, CDC chief Agnes Devanadera underscore­d women’s leadership journey while acknowledg­ing men’s vital support.

“Women have been transforme­d into leaders. The women and men formed service-oriented leaders, and for that, in the celebratio­n of Women’s Month, we just have to give credit to the men for allowing the women to bloom and blossom,” said Devanadera, who was appointed twice as full-pledged Justice secretary.

In his special message, DoJ Undersecre­tary Raul Vasquez underscore­d the importance of recognizin­g women’s achievemen­ts and inspiring future generation­s of female leaders.

“You [referring to Devanadera] embody, you encapsulat­e a woman of power, a woman of accomplish­ment, sincerity and decency, and I think every woman in the Department of Justice and the country would really be in a position to exalt you and to follow your lead,” he said.

The CDC chief highlighte­d the significan­t rise in female enrollment in law schools, surpassing males, and the increasing presence of women in the judiciary and the National Prosecutio­n Service, indicating progress in gender equality.

Furthermor­e, she emphasized DoJ’s dedication to challengin­g stereotype­s and empowering women to move beyond traditiona­l roles.

Devanadera also underscore­d the importance of women’s perspectiv­es, which contribute to fairness, balance and attention to detail within the justice system.
