Bong Go supports call for resort probe
If needed, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go said he will support the call for an investigation regarding the controversial resort built inside the Chocolate Hills protected area in Bohol.
The senator issued the statement in an interview with the local media during the inauguration of the first phase of the Mapandan Super Health Center in Barangay Torres that coincided with the celebration of the Pandan Festival here on Friday.
Go, a member of the Senate Committee on Tourism, said he is supporting the establishment of tourist attractions that would also generate jobs but these must not violate any law or regulation.
The senator cited Boracay, which was closed in 2018 to clean up the island and put everything in place.
He said there were many violations found in the island but after six months of closure, Boracay was opened again and regained its beauty.
The senator also emphasized the importance of protecting the environment.
The Super Health Center, meanwhile, is expected to benefit not only Mapandan’s 15 villages but also those from neighboring towns.
Go said phase two will be constructed within the year after another P6 million was allocated for the infrastructure, equipment, and purchase of an ambulance under the 2024 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
“The center was designed to function even if phase two is not yet completed,” he said.
“We will be putting up a lot of Super Health Centers in Pangasinan.”
The senator was joined in the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Mayor Karl Christian Vega, Vice Mayor Gerald Glen Tambaoan, Vice Gov. Mark Ronald Lambino and Department of Health regional director Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco.
