CHEd visits University of Southern Mindanao for monitoring
THE Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) visited the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan, Cotabato, to monitor its grants-in-aid (GIA) and institutional development and innovation grants (IDIG) programs on March 14, 2024.
USM President Francisco Gil Garcia said CHEd officials conducted a terminal monitoring of the USM Discovery Applied Research and Extension Trans/Inter-Disciplinary Opportunities project, called for proposals for 2025 funding, and conducted an inventory and turnover of the equipment utilized by the completed projects to the USM Office of the Vice President of Research Development and Extension (VPRDE).
CHEd Technical staff Ophelle Dominique Balolong discussed GIA for Research and Extension, and Jamie Joyce Sese showcased IDIG.
CHEd officials invited the USM Research and Development (R&D) personnel participants, composed of college research and extension coordinators, project leaders, members of the research committee, and full-time researchers, to submit funding proposals.
One purpose of the visit was for the USM R&D completed projects funded by CHEd to be presented to the group.
During the courtesy call, Garcia emphasized his appreciation for the turnover of equipment and addressed the benefit of mentoring the new USM R&D personnel.
USM VPRDE Debbie Marie Versoza encouraged the participants to submit proposals to sustain the university’s services to its community.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to CHEd not only for the funding but also for the equipment that USM will use in the next few years,” Versoza said.
