PCUP mobilizes outreach efforts for urban poor communities
THE Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) is gearing up to extend its outreach initiatives across several regions, including Surigao del Sur, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Rizal, Zamboanga and Pangasinan starting this April until the end of the year.
The initiative, named “PCUP Bayanihan para sa bawat maralita (PBBM) caravan — Tuloy-tuloy na serbisyo para sa maralitang Pilipino,” aims to bolster engagement with urban poor communities nationwide.
These caravans aim to raise awareness about the broad spectrum of programs and services offered by PCUP and will capitalize on the success of previous initiatives that have effectively brought essential services closer to residents, including those at the barangay level
The beneficiaries will have access to a variety of government services provided by agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Land Transportation Office, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, and Social Security System, among others.
PCUP Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Undersecretary Elpidio Jordan Jr. affirms the commission’s commitment to provide basic services at the grassroots level through outreach programs, which is in line with their mission to improve the lives of urban poor communities.
“Our dedication to [uplift] the lives of urban poor Filipinos remains steadfast, and the PBBM Caravan underscores this commitment by fostering stronger connections with communities and ensuring that the needs of the urban poor are met comprehensively and inclusively,” Jordan said.
