Creation of PRC office in Cotabato City sought

- JERRY ADLAW

AN official of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has called for the establishment of a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in Cotabato City.

Muslimen Sema, BARMM Labor and Employment minister, said his proposal to have a PRC office in Cotabato City was agreed upon during the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Relations Body (IGRB) held recently in Manila.

Following Sema’s proposal, the PRC central office instructed its regional office in Koronadal City to conduct an ocular visit for a possible office space for the establishment in Cotabato City.

An envoy from the PRC led by Regional Director Rotelo Cabugsa, together with other PRC 12 officials, paid a courtesy visit to Sema, who was joined by MOLE officials in the discussion of the proposed service center.

Sema, in an interview, stressed that the service center will offer services to Bangsamoro professionals such as applications for initial registration of PRC license, PRC ID renewal, registration for professional examinations, requests for certification and authentication, and even conduct examinations.

He said that establishment of the PRC service center would cater 44 professions in the region, particularly in Cotabato City, thereby luring schools to open more courses and degree programs.

Sema said that Bangsamoro professionals will benefit from this initiative as they will no longer need to go to other regions once the PRC service center is established in Cotabato City.

During the meeting, Sema said that they had already served 30 percent of the clients from BARMM when a temporary satellite office was put up in Cotabato.

According to Sema, putting up the service center permanently requires at least 150- to 200-square meters of space, strong internet connection, and security of the area.
