Help shape progressive nation, Go urges youth
SEN. Bong Go underscored his unwavering commitment to serving the nation with dedication and advancing projects catering to every Filipino’s welfare.
“As a public servant, I must serve to the best of my abilities, and I am determined to support initiatives that enhance and care for our citizens,” said Go in his address during the University of Mindanao Political Science Department’s “Samahang Mag-aaral ng Pulitika Timon Festival 2024” in Davao City on Saturday, April 20.
The celebration underscored the importance of political discourse and achieving academic excellence among university students. It gathered students and faculty to engage in discussions that foster a deeper understanding of political dynamics and the role of youth in shaping the future political landscape of the Philippines.
“This year, our theme is ‘Language and Culture: The Journey of Intelligence in Political Science.’This theme is important because it underscores the need to understand our country’s political and economic issues in a broader context. It encourages us to delve deeper into the cultural and linguistic aspects that shape our political landscape,” Go said in his speech.
“Through your studies and participation, you are not just observers but active participants in shaping a more progressive future for our nation,” he continued, emphasizing the students’ potential to influence the political landscape.
Expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity to inspire the youth, Go highlighted his commitment to serving the nation with dedication and advancing projects catering to every Filipino’s welfare.
He encouraged the students to persevere in their studies and build a brighter future for their families and communities. As a potential future leader, he underscored the transformative power of compassionate service, urging them to prioritize the needs of society’s poor and vulnerable sectors.
“Who knows, in time, you might become a councilor, you might become a congressman, you might become a mayor, you might become a senator … remember what I’m going to tell you. Love your fellow Filipinos, and you will never go wrong. This public service should be love, from the heart, caring for fellow Filipinos,” he said.
The festival provided a platform for students to engage with established political figures and aimed to inspire them to become proactive participants in political affairs and governance. The University of Mindanao hopes to cultivate a generation of informed, engaged, and responsible leaders by bringing together passionate young minds and seasoned policymakers.
