The entrepreneur knows what Filipinas want
Sun-kissed beauty Jess Kienle gives us the lowdown on her chic beauty routine
Three words one might use to describe Jessica Kienle Maxwell the first time they meet her: beauty, poised and tanned. The last adjective made possible with the beauty’s latest endeavor, the Philippines’ first spray tanning studio, aptly named Spray. The entrepreneur first caught our attention as the Head of Design and Merchandising for leading Philippine furniture manufacturer Philux, a business she runs with her sister, Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez. Now, she is one of the managing partners of Spray, which she founded together with her good friends Catalina Varona, Fabienne Aboitiz and Nicole Coromina Sala.
Despite all these on her plate, she seems to have mastered the art of time management, squeezing in family and personal time on a daily basis. “I divide my time working at Philux’s head office and visiting our showrooms across Manila. Now with Spray, there is one more shop I stop at,” she starts. “On a regular day, I have breakfast with my husband and my son Luca, drop Luca off to school on the way to our head office, then have meeting around the city in the afternoon. On a good day, I’ll end with a game of tennis before retiring at home with a glass of wine and a good show on Netflix. As they say, it really is all about finding the type of balance that works for you,” she says with a warm smile.
In addition to her bronzy glow, it is this mastery of balance that keeps Kienle Maxwell at the top of her beauty and wellness game as well. She sits down with MEGA to share a few tips and tricks she has learned along the way:
BEAUTY TALKS
ON HER SKINCARE AND MAKEUP ROUTINE:

ON HER LATEST BUSINESS VENTURE, SPRAY:
“We noticed that the Philippines has been moving towards a more wholesome and wellness-focused approach to health and beauty. More and more people are aware about the irreversible damages the sun can have on the skin, and before Spray, there were zero options for sunless tanning in the country. So we felt it was time to bring in a healthier solution to tanning. Spray is for those who love how they look and feel when they are tan, but simply do not want to lie under the sun, or have the time to do so. We also noticed that more Filipinas are embracing their morena skin, and we are simply here to enhance it.”
ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL FITNESS:
“It’s all about balance. I am not the type of person who can stick to one type of workout. I love to run, play tennis, practice barre and yoga. I do whatever I feel like doing at any given day, but I make it a point to work out at least twice a week. When it comes to my diet, I eat almost everything! But I make sure I portion properly.”
ON HER BEAUTY PHILOSOPHY: “The only person you need to impress is you. When you take care of your mind and your body, confidence and your inner beauty will immediately shine through.”
