IF THERE IS SOMEONE who has steadily navigated her way through the beauty industry, that would be Tiffy King. Even before she graduated from college, she already found herself working with top multi-national beauty brands, and making the most out of her internship experiences. King was able to build an impressive foundation in the realm of luxury, and has carried this with her all the way to her professional career. Currently working as the marketing manager of Laura Mercier, she has always known that this is the path she wanted to take. “I was into haircare first, but I knew I wanted to work in the beauty industry,” King shares. “So after I did professional haircare, I transferred to Luxasia where I handled Elizabeth Arden, Guerlain, and Peter Thomas Roth as product manager. When Shiseido Philippines started last July 2019, my boss was able to transfer me and I moved to be marketing manager.” Getting to where she is today was no easy task. King had to roll up her sleeves and do the dirty work—it was not always glamorous. “I like how my job is quite fast-paced,” she says. “People think working in the beauty industry is very glamorous, but it’s not, because you have to do the work. I have to ingress, get the boxes, count inventory—everything! I’m just lucky that the team I work with is so supportive and we all work so well together. All for one and one for all.” However, with hard work comes great reward. King finds time to visit some of the most breathtaking locations around the globe, and she loves to travel with her loved ones and family. Exploring the world is one of the things King is passionate about, and she’s beyond thrilled that she gets to do it so often. An upcoming trip she is looking forward to is Iceland this year with her friends. Exuding a great amount of positivity and effortless radiance, King is always so pleasant to be with. She is amazing at what she does, and is always open to learn new things and grow. With a good head on her shoulders, she’s ready to take succeed in all that she does. What keeps you positive and happy all the time? A good support system. To me, it’s very important. At the office and at home, I feel really connected to everyone, and we all have a really great bond. What do you hope to achieve before you’re 30? I really want to get a master’s degree and pursue further studies, specific to the luxury brand management side. What is your favorite place in the world? I love Florence! I love going there with my mom and my sisters. I like the vibe, the architecture, the food, the people. Who is the person you look up to the most? That’s a hard one! I really look up to my mom. Because whenever I’m stressed or tired and in need of a hug, I know she’s always just there. She helps me in whatever I’m going through. What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever received? My mom told me that there are no shortcuts in life, and I have to really put in the work. She taught me to have resilience and that the hard times won’t last forever. Is there anything in life you wish you could go back to and redo? Maybe to study harder in college. Even though I graduated on time, I didn’t have the highest grades. But I guess it worked out because I was really active in my internships and extra-curriculars.
