Kaibigan’s Project Love 2019

-

MAWAB, Compostela Valley – Kaibigan Troopers spearheaded the conduct of Project Love 2019 in Barangay Anitapan, Mabini, Compostela Valley last Thursday.

Project Love 2019 was an extended Valentine’s Day Celebration initiated by Lt. Col. Esteveyn Ducusin, commanding officer of the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion and supported by the Kiwanis Club of Matahum Davao and Kiwanis Club of Golden Tagum headed by Miss Lorna Lui-Go.

Project Love is an annual event set by the Kaibigan Battalion to celebrate the love month.

It includes gift-giving, parlor games and other interesting activities that encompass the real essence of love. This year, it became more riveting as with the Knowledge on Wheels was incorporated with the activity.

Knowledge on Wheels, a mobile mini-library that would benefit Indigenous Peoples and Out-of-School children, was launched last Feb. 13. It is anchored from the mission of providing every child an access to quality education.

Ducusin was delighted with the numbers of children waiting to be taught and be given gifts. He said to the multitude, “The innocence of the children’s smile gives us a wonderful feeling. We are here

today not only to extend our hearts by giving you toys and foodstuff but also to nourish your knowledge with the right education because we believe that these children will be future leaders and I am glad that we are taking part in molding them today as great future awaits them.”

Barangay Anitapan Chair Henry Acosta expressed his gratefulness. Overwhelmed, he said, “This activity is a reminder to us that we are not forgotten nor left out. This shows that we are part of the community. This means we are cared for and loved …that these children are prospected for a great future with those who truly cares.”

Considering that Barangay Anitapan is categorized as red flag area and is Geographically Isolated Disadvantaged Area, the 71st IB still pursued to make the activity happened. It was not just a mere activity but a campaign as well to win the heart of the people especially those who are supporting and are already part of anti-government forces.

Ducusin said, “We always want to be of good relationship and of good example. We want to uphold lives of everyone. We are serious of having a peaceful and developed community. Hand in hand, let’s pursue this dream.”

Project Love was made possible through the help of Compostela Valley

provincial government headed by Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy and the Mabini town government headed by Mayor Reynaldo L Dayanghirang.
