82 Busuanga locals join Navy reservists

Some 82 residents of Busuanga town have completed their pre- entry training to qualify as Philippine Navy ( PN) reservists on Sunday.

Major Ferdinand Foronda, Naval Forces Reserve Center West ( NRCenWest) commanding officer, said Monday that the closing ceremony of the 15- day PN Reserve Force Training is prescribed under the Program of Instructio­n ( POI), including Basic Citizen Military Training ( BCMT) and Special BCMT ( SBCMT).

Foronda said some of them underwent PN specializa­tion for three to 10 days training which included Shipboard Familiariz­ation and Orientatio­n Training ( SFOT), Ready Reserve Organizati­on Training ( RROT), Disaster Emergency Assistance and Rescue Training ( DEART), and Informatio­n Collection Training ( ICT).

Graduates who underwent the training were BCMT Class 03- 18, SBCMT Class 01- 18 and SFOT, RROT, DEART and ICT Class 02- 18.

Commodore Rommel Jason Galang, commander of the Naval Forces West ( Navforwest) was the guest speaker along with guests Mayor Elizabeth Cervantes and Commander Richard Gubatan PN ( Res), commander of the 41st Naval Group Reserve ( NGR).

He said there now are about 10,000 Navy reservists in the whole Palawan both active and inactive.

The reservists will serve as one of the support commands of all units of the Armed Forces of the Philippine­s ( AFP) in performing roles such as anti- guerrilla operations, training, force multiplier, disaster rescue, relief, and community service.

The training was supported by the local government of Busuanga.
