82 Busuanga lo­cals join Navy re­servists

Some 82 res­i­dents of Busuanga town have com­pleted their pre- en­try train­ing to qual­ify as Philip­pine Navy ( PN) re­servists on Sun­day.

Ma­jor Fer­di­nand Foronda, Naval Forces Re­serve Cen­ter West ( NRCenWest) com­mand­ing of­fi­cer, said Mon­day that the clos­ing cer­e­mony of the 15- day PN Re­serve Force Train­ing is pre­scribed un­der the Pro­gram of In­struc­tion ( POI), in­clud­ing Ba­sic Ci­ti­zen Mil­i­tary Train­ing ( BCMT) and Spe­cial BCMT ( SBCMT).

Foronda said some of them un­der­went PN spe­cial­iza­tion for three to 10 days train­ing which in­cluded Ship­board Fa­mil­iar­iza­tion and Ori­en­ta­tion Train­ing ( SFOT), Ready Re­serve Or­ga­ni­za­tion Train­ing ( RROT), Dis­as­ter Emer­gency As­sis­tance and Res­cue Train­ing ( DEART), and In­for­ma­tion Col­lec­tion Train­ing ( ICT).

Grad­u­ates who un­der­went the train­ing were BCMT Class 03- 18, SBCMT Class 01- 18 and SFOT, RROT, DEART and ICT Class 02- 18.

Com­modore Rom­mel Ja­son Galang, com­man­der of the Naval Forces West ( Nav­for­west) was the guest speaker along with guests Mayor El­iz­a­beth Cer­vantes and Com­man­der Richard Gu­batan PN ( Res), com­man­der of the 41st Naval Group Re­serve ( NGR).

He said there now are about 10,000 Navy re­servists in the whole Palawan both ac­tive and in­ac­tive.

The re­servists will serve as one of the sup­port com­mands of all units of the Armed Forces of the Philip­pines ( AFP) in per­form­ing roles such as anti- guer­rilla op­er­a­tions, train­ing, force mul­ti­plier, dis­as­ter res­cue, re­lief, and com­mu­nity ser­vice.

The train­ing was sup­ported by the lo­cal govern­ment of Busuanga.
