- By Rachel Ganancial Reporter

A local agri- tourism business in Puerto Princesa City will help local farmers gain access to the Office of High- Value Crops and Rural Credit ( OHVRC) of the Department of Agriculture ( DA).

The commitment was secured by OHVRC USec. Evelyn Laviña from the management of the Yamang Bukid during her visit Saturday to the farm in Barangay Bacungan for the celebration of the 4th Agros Festival.

Laviña said Yamang Bukid will do an extension service to connect farmers together with their concerns and proposal to the DA.

“Yamang Bukid has already volunteered to facilitate and tumulong dito, you know our farmers, gaya ko, I don’t write kunyare mga proposal or something. Yamang Bukid is willing to help ‘ yong sa mga ganoon, they are going to extend hindi lang doon sa kanilang area,” Laviña said.

Yamang Bukid Farm, a privately owned farm is a model in practicing agro- tourism business in the city and the country, she said.

The linking program is going to be a part of the farm’s corporate social responsibility ( CSR) aimed at helping farmers in the city and province, she added.

Laviña said farmers can attend orientation activities of Yamang Bukid to avail of the agency’s machinery loans which have minimal interests.

“We will send personnel in the province to listen to the concerns of local farmers,” she said.

Laviña also advised farmers to register with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture ( RSBSA) of the DA to insure their farms against the effect of natural calamities.

“Papapuntahin natin ’ yong mga tao natin sa DA na magbigay sa kanila ng mga ano ba ang pwedeng services na the DA could give to them and I reminded them na lahat ng representatives ng Yamang Bukid na all farmers should be registered to our RSBSA through the municipal level,” she added.
