‘Kap’, treasurer accused of fund malversation
ILOILO City – The barangay captain and former treasurer of Cubay, Jaro district face graft charges before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The barangay council supposedly released a total of P4.5 million for the honoraria and cl aims of barangay councilmen, barangay tanods, those whose services the council tapped such as janitors, and for other transactions but the money did not reach the intended recipients, claimed complainant Ramil Aposaga.
Aposaga, c ouncilman of Barangay Cubay, charged Barangay Captain Renato Villegas and former barangay treasurer Jessie Nacionales with malversation of public funds thru falsification of public documents, grave abuse of authority, gross neglect of duty, and violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The amount i nvolved reached P4.5 million, said Aposaga, citing a Commission on Audit (COA) report.
