BACOLOD City – Five days after he allegedly mauled and shot her wife to death, a man from Sitio Matambok, Barangay Mandahupang, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental killed himself, police said.

The 47-year-old Edwin Estrabella was found on Tuesday hanging from a tree with a rope tied around his neck in their village, according to Senior Inspector Ruben Verbo, municipal police chief.

Estrabella was accused of attacking wife Thelma, 45, on March 23 after a heated argument.

Thelma allegedly got jealous after seeing her husband with another woman in a videoke bar in Bais City, Verbo said.

The wife ran away to avoid the attack. The couple’s children and relatives tried to intervene, but Estrabella grabbed a .38-caliber firearm and fired at Thelma, said Verbo.

Thelma was declared dead at the Manjuyod District Hospital./
