Woman kills ‘sex attacker’ – police

BACOLOD City – She was just protecting herself from sexual assault, she told the police.

A 37- year- old woman was a suspect in the death of a neighbor in Sitio Laguna, Barangay Matuog, Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

Maricris Tanilon was facing a homicide charge for allegedly hitting the 65-year- old Jose Zuniega to death with a piece of wood, police said. Tanilon surrendered to the

uay police. She was detained at the Tayasan police station.

A drunken Zuniega barged into her house around 11:30 a.m. on May 22 and tried to rape her, Tanilon told the police.

She was able to move away and grab a piece of wood, which she used in striking Zuniega’s forehead repeatedly, a police report showed.

Tanilon claimed this was the second time Zuniega tried to rape her.

It was not indicated in the police report what the circumstances during the alleged first rape attempt were or when it happened./
