Common core state standard
HAVE YOU already heard about the common core state standard learning model? If you have not yet heard about it then please read as it may help you get inspiration and be inspiring to other fellows. Common core state standard is the model that standardizes language arts and mathematics lessons across the United States so that students will have expected learning goals from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The new standard creates an avenue for students to learn and excel in processes that will assure them to be career and college ready.
In t he common core standard, t eachers are required to teach particularly Math by focusing more on and met someone covering concepts more deeply rather than racing to cover a broad spectrum of topics. This will ensure that students will strongly and better understand the Math subjects being covered. The said Math standard also is conceptualized to progressively teach students each passing grade that builds upon the last.
I n t he common core standard, teachers are also required to teach particularly English subjects by focusing more on vocabulary and le a r n i n g th e En g l i s h language. This is to ensure that students will focus on reading assignments gearing more towards non- fiction writing that just taking home has been pronouncedly taught by focusing more on academic and scientific writing to prepare students for college level reading. The English standard is at its depth because it also focuses more on evidence- based writing, leaning students towards more i nformative and argumentative writing styles.
In the United States, this common core standard has been controversial with varied concerns coming from both educators and parents noting that the idea, noting that the program is designed to bring all students to a higher level, while others shun the idea based on its focus on assessments and lack of local control over curriculum. Here say that we have not yet fully embraced and optimize the advantages of the K- 12 program with its own set of standard but I cannot also help but acknowledge the beauty and strength of this common core standard as a potential medium for Filipino students.
When q new standard is introduced it is always hard to embrace. It requires extra planning on the educator’s part and an open mind f rom parents and other stakeholders involved. The good thing about having a new standard or pattern existing ones with a twist of the acclaimed ones from other countries is that the end goal is to make quality the education that is the right
