RAMON CUA LOCSIN INVITES MORE INVESTORS

-

FORMER Iloilo City councilor Ramon Cua Locsin, now the governor of the Philippine Red Cross and executive officer of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc., visited Taiwan, South Korea and Australia upon the invitation of various business groups in those countries.

He gave lectures about Iloilo as a new economic frontier and business hub because of its strategic location and economic potentials.

Lately, Locsin hosted seven Chinese businessmen and civic leaders, showing them the physical contours of the city.

The former undefeated politician is hopeful that this year many foreign investors will establish business offices and operations in the city

According to him, his principal targets are investors/ businessmen engaged in tourism investments.

EMMANUEL Macalalag of No. 50 Jalandoni Street, Iloilo City has been searching for the truth these past 47 years. Unfortunately, he has yet to find it despite earnest efforts. It is because of this that he asked the help of this section to unearth the mystery behind what he called a “fully- guarded anomaly” in the Headquarters, 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command, Dingle, Iloilo, and in his Alma Mater, the University of San Agustin.

Finishing his basic ROTC ( Reserve Officers Training Corps) in school year 1964- 1966 with a grade of 91 percent, Macalalag was issued an Extract by the Army Reserve Command bearing his “AFP Serial Number- 02E- 5178 ( Res) PA effective as of 01 April 1969.” However, Macalalag said, such number is not authentic. “How could it be authentic or genuine? A similar Extract dated May 18, 2010 was issued by the Reserve Command to Michael Angelo T. Moran. It was No. 14, and he graduated on School Year 2003- 2004. Mine was No. 15,” he said. “I cannot accept this hook, line and sinker.”

“What I want is the truth and nothing but the truth. So help me God!” Macalalag hollered.

MANY Small Town Lottery ( STL) agents/ collectors in Iloilo City and in the municipalities of Iloilo and Guimaras came to us alleging that Eagle Crest Gaming is engaged in illegal “bookies” operation.

They said they will report this to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office ( PCSO) main office.

Eagle Crest operation PCSO Iloilo ( Eagle Crest is creating trouble in Iloilo),” their letter- complaint

“Ginagamo sang ang legal nga sang sa said.

“If the company is engaged in bookies operation, what will prevent us from engaging in the same illegal act?” their complaint asked.

According to them, there are many “bookies” operators in Iloilo City, including Guimaras, and they are helpless if the situation prevails. Is this true, Cookie? Sam Aguilar “dies- dies” laughing!

Inday By the way, Eagle Crest’s STL franchise territory is limited only to the province of Iloilo.

WE PRINTED in yesterday’s issue the “true side of the coin” about what is happening at the Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH) Aklan under the l eadership of District Engineer Noel Fuentebella.

There is no truth to reports that only favored contractors got awards, our sources revealed.

“All qualified contractors are allowed to bid. There is no hocus- pocus or maneuvering going on during public biddings. Transparent biddings are beneficial to the government and all agencies are required to follow the rules and regulations on public biddings,” a lady personnel told Lapsus yesterday.

She said some contractors who lost could not accept their fate. That is normal because of human frailties.

A bidder from Iloilo City who lost in previous biddings in Aklan defended Fuentebella, saying it is impossible for the latter to satisfy everybody.

He believed that the soft- spoken official is above- board in his all his functions as head of the agency in the province of Aklan.

TAKE note! Widened roads in Iloilo City have been converted into convenient parking spaces by callous and unconscionable vehicle owners.

For instance, the road from Mandurriao district to San Miguel, Iloilo has become constricted and dangerous for motorists and pedestrians due to illegally parked vehicles.

Our traffic officers are lazy. They do not apprehend traffic violators. They said they are afraid of the consequences of apprehending influential owners of vehicles.

Or perhaps is it because our traffic officials are incompetent and nincompoops?
