2 police officers fired for illicit affair
IL OIL O City–The National Police Commission (Napolcom) dismissed from the service two police officers of Zarraga, Iloilo for grave misconduct and conduct of unbecoming of a police officer. Police Officers 2 April Joy Estilo Edang and Stephen Gayanilo were accused of having an illicit affair, according to Napolcom Region 6 spokesperson Allen Camering.
The complainant was Edang’s husband.
Napolcom’s central office
came out with its decision on Nov. 29, 2016 yet but copies of it reached the two police officers and the Napolcom regional office only recently.
The complaint was filed when the two police officers were still Police Officers 1 and assigned at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office headquarters.
In Sept. 22, 2014 the two appealed their case with the Napolcom central office after they were found guilty of misconduct by the regional office.
Camering said Edang’s husband was working in Saudi Arabia.
Gayanilo asserted he had no knowledge of Edang’s existing marriage when t hey l i ved together. Their act constituted conduct unbecoming of police officers as defined under Section 1 (h), rule of the Napolcom, Memorandum Circular No, 2007- 001, said Camering.
Aside from their dismissal from service, their benefits were forfeited and they were barred from working in government, added Camering./
