Illegal fishers fall in Concepcion, Carles

ILOILO – Eight suspected illegal fishermen were arrested in two separate operations of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force in Concepcion and Carles towns.

These fishermen were using round haul seine or and trawl without permit from the municipal government­s, sinsoro said Senior Police Officer 1 Jose Ronnie Panes.

The Bantay Dagat caught the fishermen onboard the following motorboats:

* – owned and operated by Meldrid Francisco and pilotedM/Bca Meldridby Franklyn Aldaya of Concepcion, Iloilo

– owned and operated by Judy Gaquit

* M/ Bca Joshua and piloted by Ronald Docejo of Concepcion, Iloilo

– owned operated by Vincent Amante

* M/Bca Rochelle and piloted by Nestor Mosqueda of Concepcion, Iloilo

– owned and operated by Editho Salundaga

* M/Bca Jade of Roxas City, Capiz

– owned and operated by Noel de la Cruz

* M/Bca Jomar 7 of Pilar, Capiz

Motorboats Meldrid, and were apprehende­d in Concepcion, while Joshuaand Rochellein Carles.

Jade According to Panes, the unregister­edJomar fishing boats violated Section 9.06 and 9.09 of the Concepcion and Carles municipal ordinances and Section 86 (unauthoriz­ed fishing) of Republic Act 10654 (amended Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998).

Using active gears like trawl within municipal waters, on the other hand, violates Section 95 of Republic Act 10654.
